WHEN PLASTIC MET WATER
When Australia was first introduced to bottled water in the late 1980s, Australians thought it was a joke.
Fast forward to 2018 and in a triumph of marketing over reason bottled water is bought in droves and in most cases we pay more per litre than petrol.
Australia recycles 36% of PETE plastic bottles; the balance, 370 million, end up in landfill or in our waterways.
It is estimated a staggering one million single use plastic bottles are purchased around the world every minute. That equates to 20,000 bottles each second.
The change starts with us. You. Me. Even Barry and Bev up the road.
Minimise the use of single use plastic bottles, recycle and always carry a non plastic reusable bottle to drink your water.
